Left-back, Douglas started all three of Wolves’ pre-season games including playing for over an hour in the 1-0 defeat to FK Jablonec.
Douglas praised his new team mates for making him feel welcome - he says the team are now beginning to understand how the Head Coach wants the players to play.
The 27 year old said, “It’s always difficult coming into a new team and getting to know the boys and everything but to be fair they've been top class - there’s a been a lot of newcomers, they boys have taken to them well and helped us all settle in and I think we’re starting to understand each other and play some nice football.
“We probably didn't expect to lose the third game after the first two games but it just shows you, this is football.
“We’ll probably take more from the third game than we will from the other two games. The Gaffer will look over it and see what we can do to improve so that we’re ready for the first game.
“Everyone still wants to win, it’s that competitive mentality but at the end of the day it’s about fitness and getting to know the guys more, it’s another step in the right direction.
“It’s been nice to play as much as possible and try and get the fitness up because I started a bit later than the boys.
“I’m feeling good - every game and training session is helping me, hopefully I can keep going.”
Douglas began his career at Queen’s Park in Scotland before making the switch to Dundee United in 2010.
From there, he made the decision to move away from the United Kingdom as he signed for Lech Poznan in 2013.
Now he has made the move to Wolverhampton, he believes that his style of play suits the way that Nuno Espirito Santo wants to play, he says the squad has the quality to achieve success this season.
“One of the big factors in me coming back to the UK was that the plan was to play football,” he said.
“I’m maybe not your typical British full-back - I’m more about playing with the ball.
“The system suits me and I think it suits a lot of the guys because we’ve got technical players, I think that’s going to be our style this season.
“You just need to look at the squad, the quality is there in abundance - even young guys coming through and senior guys.
“For me, I’m still learning, I’m still getting to know everyone - getting to know the coaching staff and everyone else. It’s a kind of transition period for me.
“I’m looking to being back in the UK again, I’ve been away for a few years.
“It will be a new challenge for me again, a new style - yeah, I’m looking forward to it.
“A lot of my friends play in the Championship, I always keep an eye on it because it’s a big league.
“It’s a new challenge for myself and hopefully I can go and prove myself and show that I’m more than capable.”
