Stearman is on-loan with Wolves from Fulham until the end of the season - he’s therefore one of number of Wolves players who’s future at the club remains uncertain.
The 29-year-old says that if players are given a chance, it is up to them to take it.
He said, “There are a few players who’s futures are a bit up in the air at the moment so if they get their chance, they've got to try and take that shirt.
“There are plenty of players up and down the country who don't know what’s going to happen next year.
“A lot of people are waiting for the end of the season before they sort out what and who they need, we’ll wait and see on that one.
“To concede one goal in the three games that I’ve been playing in against two teams that are in and around the play-offs, I’m very happy with how I’ve done.
“For me, it’s great whenever I get to put on the shirt and the more times that I can do that, the better.
“I’ll wear it as best as I can, perform to the best I can and we’ll see what happens then.
“The boys went through a very good patch with me out of the side and I couldn't complain about me not being in - they won five on the spin, you've got to sit, wait and train hard and prepare as if you might get another chance.
“Thankfully I have had another chance and I like to think that I have given the manager something to think about.”
Tuesday’s defeat to Huddersfield saw Paul Lambert make six changes to team that started the previous game.
Returning to the side were long-term absentees Jordan Graham, Silvio Pereira and Joe Mason.
Stearman was happy to see them all return, he believes that if Jordan Graham can maintain his fitness, he will be an asset to the club for next season.
“The gaffer said he was going to make changes and don't think anyone would have guessed the line-up,” Stearman continued.
“It’s all credit to the boys that have been out through injury or not been selected, I thought a lot of them did very well against Huddersfield.
“It was great to see Jordan Graham back on the pitch, I thought he really livened the game up and got some bums off seats when we came on, if he can stay fit, he will be a force to be reckoned with next season.
“SIlvio’s a player with great technical ability and a vast amount of experience.
“He’s obviously been out of the side for injury reasons - he was another player that played really well against Huddersfield, he really took his chance.
“It’s been a few games since me and Danny (Batth) have been out there together.
“Obviously it was myself and Mike (Williamson) in the last couple and we did well - it shows our strength in depth within the position to be able to rotate it.”

Richard Stearman says that the players will be determined to prove that they can be part of Paul Lambert’s plans during Wolves' final two games of the season.
