I’m Learning Game By Game

Coady feels he is learning and developing at right-back, since being asked to play there by Paul Lambert earlier in the season.

The 24-year-old’s preferred position is in central midfield but he has featured in every game of Wolves’ five consecutive wins at right-back.

As long as he is playing, Coady says he will do anything to help the team and the manager.

“I enjoy playing at right back. I’ve said a number of times that I like having the game in front of me, I like defending and I like going one-on-one with player and seeing if I can come out on top,” Coady said.

“More importantly, I like helping the team and I like helping the manager - if I can keep on doing that then I’ll be happy with myself.

“I fell like I’m learning more game by game, I hadn't really played there that much going into it - it was just about me learning and developing as a right back if I was going to play there.

“Hopefully I can keep on playing and keep on playing well for the team and keep moving forward.

“If I can get forward as much as I can around or front lads then that will be a massive help for me and the team.

“It’s about us picking up results - the gaffer made the point before the game on Tuesday that we’ve got to keep the back door shut and he’s right - that’s what we have to do as a back four and we’ve done it in the last couple of games fairly well.”

Wolves make the trip to Bristol City on Saturday, a side who lost 5-0 at Preston on Tuesday.

They sit 1 point above the relegation zone, Coady says that Tuesday’s result will motivate them to bounce back.

“Bristol City getting beaten on Tuesday won’t mean that they won’t come out on Saturday and play a totally different game and be right up for it - which I presume they will be,” he said.

“We want to keep on playing well and listening to the manager and hopefully we will be picking up another result on the way.

“There’s no real pressure on us to be doing it at the moment - I’m a little bit gutted that this run didn't happen earlier in the season, I think all of the boys are.

“We could have had a right kick-on and a right push. We’re scoring a lot of good goals and we’re entertaining a lot of people - it’s just about listening to ourselves, concentrating on ourselves and going into the game confident.

“The Championship is one of the toughest leagues to get out of and we know that being at this football club with the past couple of seasons that we’ve had.

“We want to look up now as a football club - the manager’s come in and galvanised everybody, the lads are starting to understand the way he wants us to play now and we’re loving every single minute of it.

“It’s going to happen in the Championship where you go on bad runs but you've got to put it right. Until we’re mathematically safe, we’re always looking to be as far away from the bottom three as possible from that drop zone.

“All we can do is carry on what we’re doing, carry on winning games - the boys in the changing room have been buzzing about this run.

“They are saying, ‘can we finish here or there?’ It’s up to us to keep on doing that, to keep on entertaining the fans, to keep on scoring goals and like I say, keep on winning games.”
