Lambert spent three seasons as manager of the Canaries between 2009 and 2012, taking them from Sky Bet League 1 to the Premier League.
And ahead of Wolves' trip to Norfolk, the Head Coach spoke highly of his time at Carrow Road.
He said: "I’m really looking forward to going down, it’s the first time in a few years.
"What we did there was extraordinary. I’m looking forward to seeing some friendly faces that have been really good to me.
"We had three incredible years – it’s hard to explain what it was like.
"It’s a great club, there are great people there, Michael Foulger, people like that, they are still at the club.
"And Delia’s mum! She’s 97 and she was brilliant when I was there.
"We go down to play a good team. Okay they’re under severe pressure, because I think Norwich should be at least in the top three with the resources they’ve got and the players they’ve got.
"There seems to be things maybe not so happy there.
"I know it’ll be difficult and things can go against us. But we go there with so much confidence."
Lambert believes there are comparisons to be held between his current Wolves side and the team he managed during his time at Norwich as the players and supporters build on their relationship.
"When I first went to Norwich I felt there was a wee bit of distance between the players and the fans," explained the gaffer.
"It may have been the same here...I think the players have got closer to the supporters now and vice versa.
"You see it after the games, the Icelandic thing is brilliant and the noise at the stadium last week was unbelievable.
"The supporters and the players are the ones that drive the whole thing on. I’m only a small part of it.
"The Norwich lads did the same. They were slightly older and with more experience, but I’ll always be grateful to those players for what they did for me and to the club for giving me a chance.
"It’s similar here because of the way the team is performing and the way it’s bouncing off the supporters.
"You can sense it as soon as you walk through the door. We just needed a few results and to get the crowd closer to the players.
"We’ve opened training, which I think is important, and the players being in the community is important. If we can keep that going it’ll take us a long way."
In response to questions about squad availablity and player fitness, Lambert said: "We’ve got one or two little knocks from the other day, but you tend to find every one of them will want to play.
"And we’ve got that small game up at Anfield next week.
"At the minute I can’t ask for any more. At this minute in time we’re playing well. It can change, but at this minute I love watching us."
