Cameron Borthwick-Jackson is relishing the prospect of trying to help Wolves enjoy a successful season after completing a season-long loan to join from Manchester United.
The 19-year-old left back is targeting a long term future at Old Trafford, but is keen to try and do his bit to help Wolves reach the top flight as he aims for regular first team football at Molineux.
Borthwick-Jackson, an England Under-19 international, made 14 first team appearances for United during his breakthrough season, and has been a long-standing target of Wolves.
“Wolves is a big club with great facilities and a great set of fans and that is what attracted me,” he told Wolves Player HD.
“My aim is to come here and play as many games as I can and get some good experience in the hope of going back to United and challenging for the team.
“Jose Mourinho has told me I have got a future there so I am looking to gain experience and then go back.
“I have had interest from Premier League clubs and other Championship clubs but I really wanted to come here and try and help Wolves get back to where they belong in the Premier League.
“That is an exciting challenge for me and I want to be the best I can be to improve.
“I also know Wolves have been interested in me for a while so I am coming here to try and contribute as much as I can.”
The defender, played mainly as a left back but also capable of playing left centre half, believes he has a good balance between attack and defence and is determined to make the most of his Wolves opportunity.
“I have taken everything as it comes with my breakthrough for Manchester United,” he said.
“I don’t get nervous before games, I am a person who just tries to take everything in my stride.
“Everything comes naturally to me.
“I think I have got a good balance between defending and attacking.
“I like to get forward when I can, see the ball as much as I can and get crosses in.
“But I also like to defend as well, and get blocks in.
“I am just looking forward to getting going.”
Borthwick-Jackson is hoping to get his first involvement with Wolves in tomorrow’s EFL Cup tie with Cambridge United (7.45pm), if included in the 18 by Walter Zenga.
And he is hoping to play a part in building on what has been an impressive start to Wolves’ season.
“Wolves are unbeaten and it has been a great start so far,” he explained.
“Hopefully we can continue that and get a great run of form going.
“If we can try and be up there by Christmas time and we can see it goes from there.
“Our aim is to get in the Premier League and that is what I am looking to do.
“There is always going to be pressure at every club and it is about how you deal with that.
“You just have to be on your game.”
