Conor Coady insists he is happy to be left right at the back if it means he is in the Wolves team – as he targeted the hat trick of Wolves wins which would be a perfect end to 2016.
Normally a central midfielder, Coady has been utilised as a right back, as he was at times earlier in the season, for the last two games, which Wolves have won against Nottingham Forest and Bristol City.
Queens Park Rangers are the visitors to Molineux on Saturday (3pm), and Coady said it is vital for Wolves to try and continue with the recent momentum in what will undoubtedly prove another tough Sky Bet Championship fixture.
It is only a month since Wolves won 2-1 against QPR at Loftus Road, after the hosts were reduced to ten men in the first half.
“It is a strange one really how close the two fixtures are, having played QPR a few weeks ago,” says Coady.
“We can’t look back to that one now – it was a different game.
“It is about taking our recent form into Saturday and trying to get that home run going.
“Getting three wins on the bounce would be massive for us going into the New Year and that is what we are striving for.
“It was huge for us to have got over the line and seen the game through against Bristol City, and you can see with those clearances off the line at the end how much it means.
“We need to start making Molineux into a bit of a fortress for us, and it is huge for us in the second half kicking towards that end.
“For us getting back-to-back wins is massive, but we need to really kick on now and take this into the next few games and start climbing the league.
“You automatically feel on a high after winning a game in the way we did against Bristol City – we felt good throughout the game but to do it in that fashion, late on, is a great feeling.
“We have got to keep going, keep building momentum, and see where it takes us.
“There is confidence within the team at the minute, and you can see from the forward lads the way they are playing and enjoying their football.
“We have to keep that going, we have got a couple of big league games coming up and we want to pick up as many points as we can and keep the momentum and move forward.”
Coady feels Wolves played some excellent football in the Boxing Day win, and need more of the same if they are to chalk up another victory.
“I thought the lads were great against Bristol City,” he said.
“In the first half we got a good goal and passed the ball really well and broke them down to create several more chances.
“We probably should have had a couple more goals and were unfortunate to go on 2-1 down at the break.
“Maybe we got a little bit complacent as a team and that allowed Bristol City back into the game.
“We were rejuvenated in the second half, the gaffer told is what he wanted from us, and we know when we are kicking towards that end the ball is going to get sucked into the net at some point.
“It was really enjoyable in that second half.
“I thought we played some good stuff throughout the game and I thought it was a good move for the second goal.
“Going forward when you have got players who can make things happen in attacking situations and it was good the ball fell to Helder with the technique that he has.
“I need to be doing more of it if I am being honest – I want to be getting more assists.”
And on playing right back? Absolutely no problem says the former Liverpool Academy graduate.
“I am enjoying it,” he says.
“I have said before, I really am the type of player who doesn’t mind where he plays.
“I will give my all wherever I play, and I do like it at right back.
“You can see things in front of you and I am playing next to the Skip, who talks me through it.
“I am playing right back, and the team is winning, then that is good enough for me!
“You can get right in the thick of the action and coming up against tricky wingers you can test yourself.
“For me it is improving as much as possible and helping the team as much as I can.”
