Bilston People’s Centre were delighted to welcome two of the first team squad, Richard Stearman and Matt Doherty, to look around their newly opened facility.
The centre, which is based two minutes from Bilston Town Centre on the Wolverhampton Road, opened its doors in April 2016 and since then has hosted a range of activities including a soup kitchen, an advice café, youth and kids club and senior citizens lunches.
The award from Wolves Aid, £36,000 over three years contributes towards salary costs for Centre Manager, Trisha Gallardo, whose role is to develop the centre’s activities, identify new partnerships and to encourage and maintain volunteers. “We are grateful to Wolves Aid for their generous grant that has been an immense help in enabling our organisation to better respond to the needs of our local community. The grant is helping drive the organisation forward to develop new and existing projects that serve local people from a range of backgrounds and ages.”
Both Richard and Matt were delighted to attend the senior citizen lunch, have their photos taken and take part in a Q&A session with the service users which included some dedicated Wolves fans!
