Despite some good spells after the break and the threat of a comeback after Dave Edwards’ header, Wolves were unable to take anything from their game with high flying Norwich City.
There was just the one change from the team that lost to Wigan in midweek with Cameron Borthwick-Jackson coming in for Silvio who was named as a substitute. Also on the bench, making his first appearance on the team sheet for 13 months, was Nouha Dicko.
Norwich kicked-off attacking the South Bank end and they stunned Molineux by taking the lead inside two minutes. Wes Hoolahan lifted a cross from the left into the area and Cameron Jerome rose to plant a header past the helpless Carl Ikeme.
There was a chance of an equaliser six minutes later when Ivan Cavaleiro homed in on Edwards’s lofted through pass but City keeper Michael McGovern just won the race to the ball.
Martin Olsson and Helder Costa were involved in a chase for Borthwick-Jackson’s Crossfield pass and when the Wolves man won possession he turned and ran to the corner of the box before hitting an angled shot just wide of the far post.
Hoolahan and Graham Dorrans were booked within the space of a few minutes both for fouls on Costa.
On the half-hour mark it took a great piece of work from Ikeme to prevent a second City goal. Hoolahan spotted the unmarked Alex Tettey to the right of the six-yard box. A goal looked certain but the Wolves keeper spread himself and saved with his legs.
Chances at either end were minimal until the end of what had been a disappointing half for the home team.

Inside a minute of the restart, Costa was yellow carded for an innocuous looking challenge on Robbie Brady.
Prince Oniangue threaded a through ball to Joao Teixeira who stumbled as he was about to shoot. He managed to regain his footing but had been closed down and when he did get a shot away he was wide of the mark.
Conor Coady replaced Oniangue in the 57th minute and five minutes later there was a tremendous ovation for Dicko when he took the place of Teixeira.
Tettey was booked for a blatant trip on Costa before Wolves went close to levelling in the 67th minute. Edwards beat the offside trap as he ran onto Romain Saiss’s lofted pass.
He slipped the ball to Cavaleiro who crossed to Dicko on the far side of goal. Although the angle was tight a comeback goal for the striker looked on but Michael McGovern was quickly off his line to block.
Costa volleyed over after Olsson had missed Coady’s cross before Norwich sent on Jonny Howson for Jacob Murphy.
Against the run of play, City went two up in the 73rd minute. Brady played a one-two with Jerome before curling a shot into the top corner from 22-yards.
Edwards went into the book for a foul on Hoolahan but the Welsh midfielder was celebrating seconds later as he sent a majestic header past McGovern after a fine centre from Matt Doherty.
Saiss was booked for a late challenge on Ivo Pinto before Joe Mason was sent on for the last few minutes in place of Borthwick-Jackson.
In the five minutes of stoppage time, Coady had a long-range drive saved by McGovern who was then left in need of attention when he and Danny Batth collided when going for a Costa cross.
