Strength in depth

Gaffer wants two players for every position

Kenny Jackett says he would like two players battling for every position as Wolves look to improve.

The Head Coach has acknowledged that, with the club up for sale, precise details of what may available for summer spending have yet to be finalised, but that the recruitment team have targets in mind.

And he has confidence the club can make the most of the strengths they do have to make progress in the Sky Bet Championship next time out.

"The recruitment team have their targets.

"But how much money we have to spend, where we need to spend it – which is quite obvious I feel – and what market we’re working in still has to be decided.

"In terms of the future, and the club improving and the team feeling like it’s stepping on and improving, the summer is quite obviously a key time.

"We’re quite settled at the back, but would like more competition.

"In terms of our midfield, watching Jack Price and George Saville develop, Conor Coady’s been good, Lee Evans is out on loan and will come good, , and we have David Edwards who’s a very reliable pro.

"There are strengths at the club.

"We’re looking at that frontline to really take us forward, and then as a group -  and this is a real big thing - the whole group moulding together and being a winning unit which can improve.

"With the loan window being down (next season) you need to get to, if you can, two players for every position, and then you can perhaps talk about breaking into the top section.

"I do know what the standards are (in the top six) and what type of players we need to be effective in it."

Wolves have five games remaining of the current campaign, starting with Friday’s televised trip to face Hull City (7.45pm).
