Hat-trick of award winners for loanees

Wolves are celebrating a hat-trick of loanee awards, as Matija Sarkic, Connor Ronan and Morgan Gibbs-White were rewarded for impressive seasons away from Molineux.

Gibbs-White has shone on loan at Sheffield United this season, bagging 10 goals and setting up a further eight to fire the Blades into the Play-Offs, for a chance to bring the Bramall Lane outfit back to the Premier League.

The midfielder, who joined Wolves Academy at the age of eight, attracted plaudits from far and wide during his 35 United appearances, and on Saturday was voted the club’s Young Player and Player of the Season by Blades supporters.

Now, Gibbs-White will be looking to cap off his time in South Yorkshire with a promotion, and the Blades will face Nottingham Forest over two legs for a chance to reach the Play-Off final at Wembley.

Also in the Championship, goalkeeper Sarkic impressed for Birmingham City before a shoulder injury unfortunately cut-short his campaign in January.

However, the stopper did enough during the first half of the campaign to be named Supporters’ Player of the Season, after keeping ten clean in his 23 appearances across the West Midlands.

The Montenegro international has now made a full recovery from injury and travelled with the Wolves first-team to Saturday’s draw with Chelsea, taking part in the pre-match warm-up with his fellow goalkeepers.

In Scotland, Ronan has also caught the eye at St Mirren, bagging eight goals, many of which were memorable, and enjoying the most fruitful of his six loan moves away from Molineux.

Like Gibbs-White and Sarkic, Ronan’s efforts with St Mirren were rewarded come the End of Season Awards, with the midfielder claiming three gongs: Player of the Year, Social Media Player of the Year and Goal of the Year.

Unfortunately, the 24-year-old suffered an ankle injury recently and has returned to Wolves for treatment, with just two fixtures left on the Scottish Premiership calendar.
