Wolves Foundation launch Shoebox Appeal

Wolves Foundation have launched this year’s Shoebox Appeal offering supporters the chance to provide a present to children who otherwise might not receive much this Christmas.

Fans can put together a shoebox containing new toys and gifts which the Foundation will then pass on to different local charities who will ensure they provide a timely boost to children during the festive season.

A similar appeal last year saw a large number of presents passed on to the Good Shepherd and the Women and Families Resource Centre with those two charities set to benefit again along with refugees and migrants via the Refugee & Migrant Centre as well as Feed Our Pack.

“We know this has been such a difficult time for so many people, but at the Foundation we have constantly seen how the community has come together to help those in need,” says health & wellbeing manager Rachel Smith.

“Even with difficulties around the pandemic last Christmas, the Shoebox appeal was very well received and supported by fans and the amount of time and expense that people put into the presents was really heart-warming.

“And from the feedback we received from the charities, we know just how much of a difference the presents made to so many children at Christmas.

“Hopefully this year’s appeal will prove just as successful, and we are actually aiming to increase the number of charities we pass the shoeboxes on and impact even more children from the local area.

“What is also new this year is that people can bring their shoeboxes along on a matchday to the Feed Our Pack facility on the Fan Park, which should make it even more convenient for anyone who feels able to help.”

Beneficiaries are asked to mark their boxes for either a boy or girl and there are some suggested gifts for the shoeboxes as below:

  • 0-3 year-olds: dolls, teddy bears, baby clothes, bath toys, puzzles, small toys, finger puppets.
  • 3-5 year-olds: Dolls and action figures, cars, colouring sets, books, puzzles.
  • 5-9 year-olds: Educational games and toys, stationery (colouring sets, pencils, crayons, school sets), books, puzzles.
  • 9-12 year-olds: Games and toys, stationery, books, t-shirts, hair accessories, gloves, scarves, hats.
