Kit donation for Good Shepherd

Wolves Foundation has donated some of last season’s kit to the Good Shepherd as part of their Feed Our Pack campaign, allowing the charity’s service users to show off their love of Wolves!

The Foundation has been handed both surplus and unused kit from the first team and Academy squads from last season, and has now passed some on the charity now situated opposite Molineux which supports rough sleepers and the vulnerable from the local community.

This is part of the Feed Our Pack campaign with which the Foundation are working with a number of local foodbanks, including the Good Shepherd, as well as delivering Holiday Hunger projects to try and reduce the impact of food poverty in the city caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.

Feed Our Pack also includes other strands of support which has already seen donations of laptops and similar equipment made to help combat digital inequalities and Wolves Official mascots donating Wolves shirts to children from the Foundation’s partner schools.

“We remain delighted to be working with Wolves Foundation on their Feed Our Pack campaign which is primarily linked to our food and other support services,” said Tom Hayden, head of operations at the Good Shepherd.

“This donation of kit is an added bonus which will be hugely appreciated by those accessing our services.

“A lot of our clients are long-serving Wolves fans who don’t have the resources to attend matches or purchase kit, and this is a fantastic gesture which will help them feel really close to the club and proud of their city.

“Part of the kit will be passed on to a group who have taken up football as part of our meaningful activity programme designed to help people re-integrate into society who are now attending the Foundation’s weekly Head 4 Health sessions at their Aldersley Arena.”

Wolves Foundation has formed a positive relationship with the Good Shepherd over many years, supporting its services, and working together on two Molineux Sleepouts in 2019 and 2020, an event which it is hoped will return in its original format later this year.

“We have been aware of the fantastic work of the Good Shepherd for a long time, and are always keen to provide different ways of supporting the charity when we are able to do so,” said Rachel Smith, health and wellbeing manager with Wolves Foundation.

“This is including working closely in terms of their food distribution with Feed Our Pack, but also on this other strand of the campaign with providing some kit to some of those accessing the Good Shepherd.

“Hopefully they will enjoy wearing the Wolves colours and it will be great to see them wearing the kit when linking up with some of the Foundation’s projects moving forward.”

The Foundation has also donated several other pieces of equipment to support the Good Shepherd.

This includes cooking equipment such as a steamer, induction hob and halogen oven, while the Foundation has also handed over a Nintendo Wii which is set to be passed on to one of the service users or families supported by the Good Shepherd.

Like many charities, Wolves Foundation has missed out on fundraising from events during the Covid-19 pandemic, although fans have been incredible in their support of Feed Our Pack by raising thousands of pounds to add to the initial investment.

The Foundation also needs to raise additional funding to  support other activities and projects and some of last season’s kit will also be auctioned off over the coming weeks.
