Coady and Price new Foundation ambassadors

Wolves Foundation are delighted to announce that Wolves’ men and women’s team captains have joined the group of inspirational ambassadors for the charity.

Conor Coady and Anna Price have pledged their support to the Foundation’s projects and will work alongside the seven other ambassadors to help promote and highlight the vital work carried out in the local community.

Conor joined Wolves back in 2015, since when he has progressed to becoming the team’s defensive lynchpin and captain, having now made almost 250 first team appearances for the club.

Having previously represented England up to under-20 level, he recently secured a long-awaited call-up for the senior international team, making his debut in a 0-0 draw against Denmark in the Nations League.

Today’s news comes as he prepares for his 200th league start for Wolves against Manchester City this evening.

Anna first joined Wolves at the age of eight years old, progressing through the age groups to make her first team debut at the age of 15.

She has now captained the team for the last 11 years and made almost 300 appearances, combining her place in the side with work as a PE teacher and Assistant Head of Key Stage at Thomas Telford School.

Conor said:  “I think everyone knows by now how proud I am to play for and captain this football club, and proud of the progress we have made on the pitch over the last few years.

“But I am just as proud of the incredible work that the club carries out in the local community, which went to another level during lockdown.

“We know how important Wolves is to the local area, and as players we are always keen to support the Foundation’s projects by getting out and about in the community when we can.

“To see how staff adapted to continue to stay in touch with our supporters, helping them when possible with shopping and keeping in close touch with them, whilst also distributing PPE and raising money for the NHS, was inspirational.

“That as why, as Wolves captain, I am delighted to become an ambassador for the Wolves Foundation, and will do everything I can to support the charity’s fantastic work going forward.”

Anna added:  “I was really honoured to be asked and am proud to become an ambassador for Wolves Foundation.

“The Foundation deliver so many important projects across the local area and I am really looking forward to getting involved and supporting those activities whenever I can.

“For a long time Wolves Women were under the Foundation’s umbrella, before now being part of the club, so I know a lot about the charity and have seen how they supported the women’s team for so many years.

“So from a personal point of view, the Foundation opened up opportunities for me and I know how many people they impact out in the local community.

“As a Wolves fan and season ticket holder who has played for the club since I was eight, it is a real honour to link up with the Foundation and I can’t wait to get started.”

Will Clowes, Head of the Wolves Foundation, added: “We are delighted that Conor and Anna have both agreed to become ambassadors, and we now believe we have a strong and inspirational team of people to help take the charity forward.

“I think they are both very similar, in the way they not only earn respect for how they have performed as footballers, but also for the way they represent the club and the city of Wolverhampton off the pitch as well.

“Conor and Anna are already very much aware of the diverse range of projects delivered by the Foundation, and have already been involved in our work, so their appointment as ambassadors is a great way to increase their influence and promote our activities to an even wider audience.

“We now have a strong team of nine ambassadors in place, each with their own strengths and abilities to impact on a wide range of projects, and we are really looking forward to their involvement with the Foundation over the coming weeks and months.”

That team of ambassadors also comprises former Wolves captain Karl Henry, musical artist S-X, sports broadcasters Johnny Phillips and Jacqui Oatley, musician and TV presenter Mark Rhodes, presenter and furniture restorer Jay Blades and inspirational mentor and former GB Paralympic captain Jack Rutter.
