It took extra time for Nuno Espirito Santo’s men to edge ahead of their League One opponents, after 90 minutes of near misses for both sides.
Bright Enobakhare’s first goal of the season finally broke the Pirates’ resistance, after brilliant build-up play from Jack Price and Barry Douglas.
