Neto aiming for strong second half of campaign

Pedro Neto insists Wolves are determined to enjoy an improved second half of the season and their current form suggests that is realistic.

Victory over Leeds United on Friday night ensured the old gold have now taken ten points from the last 12 available and are within touching distance of the top half of the Premier League table. In an entertaining game, which saw Neto try his luck on goal on multiple occasions, Wolves shaded proceedings and now have a positive run of results to build on with 13 games remaining.

On back to back wins

“It feels very good. Another win, two wins in a row, so it was very good. We got the three points and we have to go again for the next game.

“We are doing well. The first part of the championship was not the best one, but this one we want to do better, we want to try new things, I think we started very well.”

On the winning goal

“He [Traore] was unlucky because it was a great shot, the ball hit the bar and then the back of the goalkeeper and we are happy. He did a great job. I’m not so happy because it’s not his goal.

“I think we are working very well, it doesn’t matter who scores the goals, the important thing is keeping the clean sheets and scoring, and we did it, so we are happy.”

On his mum encouraging him to shoot

“Today she must be happy because I shot like ten times and they were good efforts, so we keep going. We have to try to shoot, try to get the goal, so it’s what I did in the first-half. In the second-half I only had one shot, but it was good, the team did very well.”

On overcoming Leeds’ challenge

“We knew Leeds would be a difficult game because they press, their intensity on the game is very high, they press back, but we did very well, we handled the game, we had more opportunities and deserved the win.”
