Semedo | 'We’ll work hard to make points'

Nelson Semedo admits Wolves’ winless run in the Premier League is becoming a concern, but insists the players are working hard to try and turn the team’s fortunes around quickly.

Defeat to Crystal Palace on Saturday afternoon saw Wolves still searching for their first top-flight win of 2021, and the wing-back – who once again switched from the right to the left due to the injuries to Jonny, Marcal and Rayan Ait-Nouri – is aware that the team need to start picking up maximum points so they are not dragged towards the relegation zone.

On struggling to break Palace down

“We went at them in the second-half and when they scored, it was when we had the ball, and we tried to attack, but Crystal Palace were able to score.

“It was difficult for us to get in their area, we had the ball, but we were not creating enough dangers for them.”

On lack of wins being a worry

“Of course, because we work to try to win in every match, but it’s difficult. We’ll work hard to try to make points.”

On switching flanks

“Today I played on the left side and it’s not normal for me, but we have to be able to play on both sides, and I will try to improve and to be better for the next time.”

On looking over their shoulders

“We try to think of the next game, so before this game we were only thinking about Crystal Palace.

“But we have to pay attention to the table because we only have 10 points over Fulham who are third from bottom, so we have to pay attention to that and try to make points and get some distance from that area.”
