Silva | 'The goals will come'

Fabio Silva is confident the goals will start flowing for Wolves, but it’s just a matter of waiting for them to come naturally.

The forward came inches away from notching his debut goal for Nuno Espirito Santo’s side on his first Premier League start against Aston Villa on Saturday, but the 18-year-old was denied by the post. Coming in to the side following Raul Jimenez’s injury, Silva believes his first senior goal for Wolves will not be too far away.

On defeat to Villa

“The game is very, very fast when it’s like that, but I felt the team deserved more. I think we did everything to try and win the game.

“But now, we have another game to prepare for and we need to forget this game.”

On the result not matching the performance

“It hurts, but I think we did everything we could do to try and win the game. For us, in this game, we had a very good team defence, with the shape and doing the things that the coach wanted the team to do.

“We worked very well, but I think we deserved more. We deserved a better result.”

On hitting the post

“The goal is close, but I think it’s normal, it’s a part of the game, but I helped the team, which I think is the most important thing. The goal will come.

“If you think about the goals, then they will not come, if you go into a game thinking a goal will come every time, I think it’s not good. You have to play, enjoy the game and a goal will come naturally.”

On leaning from Raul

“It’s been good for me to learn with Raul. Every day we were together in training, we’ve been together at games, and he’s an idol for me.

“You see the great player Raul is and he’s been great for me to play with and learn from in training.”
