Podence makes senior international debut

Daniel Podence made his senior international debut for Portugal on Wednesday night, as the final act of Wolves’ international period.

The forward replaced Joao Felix with 15 minutes remaining of Portugal’s 3-0 Nations League victory over Sweden.

The result also saw Rui Patricio claim another clean sheet between the sticks, while Joao Moutinho featured as a late substitute.

At the same time, Conor Coady earned his third international cap, playing the full 90 minutes of 10-man England’s narrow defeat to Denmark at Wembley.

On Tuesday Adama Traore started in Spain’s 1-0 defeat to Ukraine, as did Raul Jimenez in Mexico’s 2-2 draw with Algeria.

Portugal under-21 duo Pedro Neto and Vitinha were also in action against Gibraltar, with the former replacing the latter 63 minutes into the 3-0 victory.

A day earlier Rayan Ait-Nouri came on just before half-time of France under-21s’ win over Slovakia.

Now, all players return to Wolverhampton, and attention turns to a Premier League trip to Leeds United.
