Dendoncker braced for Bournemouth test

Leander Dendoncker knows Wolves will have to be at their best on Wednesday evening to overcome a Bournemouth side who will be highly motivated for their visit to Molineux.

Although Eddie Howe’s side are currently languishing in the relegation zone on goal difference, the versatile Belgian midfielder believes Bournemouth will show the fighting spirit needed to lift them away from danger, meaning his Wolves teammates will need to be extra motivated for the arrival of the Cherries.

On preparing for a Bournemouth fightback

“They’re still a very good team [despite league position]. I think we will have to be at our best again to beat them.

“They are fighting against relegation, so they will be really motivated, and I think we will have to try and be even more motivated to keep the three points at home.”

On being on the verge of a top four place

“Honestly, we really don’t speak about that, but it is a fact. There are still eight games to play, so everything is really tight in the table as well.

“I think we have to just take it game by game and see where and how it ends.”

On improving under Nuno

“This is the biggest stage I’ve been at club-wise. The Premier League is the biggest stage in all of the competitions over the world.

“This manager is really special. He manages to create a really good understanding between his players and I think tactically he has proven he is capable of a lot of things.

“I really believe that he can make players better individually, which he has shown as well.”

On returning to football following lockdown

“It’s tough. We have a group chat on WhatsApp where we kept talking during lockdown, but it was two months without training sessions, so even though we had the group, it is completely different from seeing each other in real life and doing the usual things we do together.

“Everyone was happy to see each other after a long time and then, with the restrictions, training was not really what we are used to.

“But now, I think slowly things are getting back to normal, everyone is happy to be back together, to train together, to work together, to laugh together, which is a good thing.”
