Saiss discusses group's togetherness

Romain Saiss believes the togetherness built off the pitch is paying dividends on it for Wolves this season.

Wolves are fighting on two fronts, in the Premier League and Europa League, and, as a result, the group is spending a large amount of time together. Saiss, who has been impressive in defence this season, believes the bonding time is helping them battle out difficult moments in matches, like at Tottenham Hostpur last weekend, when Wolves once again came from behind to win.

On the group’s togetherness

“We spend more time together than I spend with my family. Of course, we are happy together, especially outside of the pitch, not only in training. When you are good friends outside, it’s easier to fight for each other on the pitch.

“This is the mentality of this team and we have a small squad, so everybody’s involved in the team. I’m really happy and let’s continue in this way.”

On approaching each game individually

“We play every game to win, it doesn’t matter the opponent. It could be the best team in the world or another team, it’s the same for us.

“We are focused on our job and try to win every game, so we are happy to perform well at the moment in the Premier League and Europa League, and we just have to keep going and working.”

On improvements last Sunday

“I think we were more organised in the second-half. The first-half we should have been much better defensively. We were not really organised and we gave Tottenham too much space.

“We spoke about it at half-time, to reduce the space, and we did it in the second-half, so it was easier to defend. We recovered more balls and created more chances.”

On turning the result around

“We know in football anything can happen, especially when we were only 2-1 at half-time. If we scored early in the second-half, anything was possible. We did it, we scored early through Diogo (Jota).

“Then after we were confident that we could put pressure on them and we scored a third goal. So, this is the mentality of this team, we never give up and did it again.”
