Bennett moves to Leicester on loan

Ryan Bennett has joined Leicester City on loan until the end of the season, with an option for a permanent transfer.

The defender has made 92 appearances in gold and black following his move to Molineux at the start of the 2017/18 Championship-winning campaign.

During a successful career which saw Bennett move up the leagues in England, he arrived at Wolves days after the appointment of Nuno Espirito Santo as the club’s head coach.

The former England under-21 international was a rock at the back of Nuno’s promotion securing defence, netting his first of three goals for the club in dramatic fashion as he scored an emphatic last-minute winner against Bristol City.

Bennett continued his form for the old gold following promotion to the Premier League, playing the full 90 minutes in all but four top-flight fixtures last season as Wolves earned a seventh-place spot and European football for the first time in almost 40 years.

Although the 29-year-old has found his playing time limited to just 14 starts during the current campaign, Bennett was handed the captain’s armband for the first time in his Wolves career in the Carabao Cup fourth round tie against Aston Villa in October.

Nuno thanked Bennett for the efforts he has given to Wolves in his time at Molineux, adding: “Ryan has been amazing for us in these two-and-a-half seasons, and I wish him all the best at Leicester.”

Everyone at Wolves would like to wish Ryan the best of luck during his time at the King Power.
