Nuno wants no repeat of mistakes

Nuno Espirito Santo insists Wolves must not repeat the mistakes made in defeat to Chelsea and learn from them.

Wolves made uncharacteristic mistakes and were punished on five occasions by the clinical Blues. With the squad back in for training on Sunday, work will begin to rectify their mistakes and Nuno insists the analysis begins instantly, as preparations quickly turn to Braga on Thursday.

On the performance

“Chelsea were better than us, we have to recognise and congratulate them. Bad games can happen, what is important is we don’t repeat them, we have to react and be better.

“It was a bad performance. We know that, the best way is to analyse, knowing it cannot happen again. We have to start from the defensive organisation.”

On the mistakes

“We starting the pressing, the ball was ours and the game changed with the goal. It becomes harder and required concentration. We didn’t react well and made a second mistake – two goals down – and it was tough.

“We don’t separate things on defensively or offensively, the team has to become better. We have to organise better, be more aggressive and intense, we know, the only solution – work.

“Even with the mistakes, we still wanted to compete, have the ball, create, press and take risks. We tried it against a very good team but today was not our day.”

On improving

“We will train tomorrow, we’ll work tomorrow. I’m not satisfied, but there’s no point being angry. I told them, we have to know what happened today, we have to improve and we have a chance on Thursday.

“We analyse what happened. Sometimes it was credit to the players of Chelsea with good goals, some of those were clear mistakes that we must not repeat.”

On Bennett’s absence

“It was a decision and I decided to take Max Kilman to the bench, and Jesus, Saiss and Coady played and didn’t play good, so you have to improve.

“Right-side profile is Jesus and Bennett and I had a solution with Dendoncker. Left-side profile Boly, Saiss and Kilman, it’s about the shape of the team and the right profiles.”
