Wolves sign Italy striker Cutrone

Wolves have made exciting young Italian striker Patrick Cutrone their latest new signing ahead of the 2019/20 Premier League campaign.

The 21-year-old centre forward has put pen to paper on a four-year deal and becomes the second new face to arrive at Molineux this summer following the loan signing of Jesus Vallejo from Real Madrid last week.

Spending his entire career coming up through the ranks of AC Milan, Cutrone made his senior debut for the Italian national team in 2018 after appearing at every level of youth international football for his country.

The striker made his inaugural appearance for Italy in a 2-0 friendly defeat to Argentina in March last year and was also an unused substitute against England in the same month.

Wolves sporting director Kevin Thelwell was delighted the club have signed the talented young Italian. “Patrick is an exciting signing at a very exciting period for this football club.

“We have a strong philosophy under the leadership of Nuno of bringing in the right type of people and developing young talent while staying humble and grounded as individuals, and we feel Patrick perfectly fits into our philosophy.

“We are very pleased to have a player of Patrick’s ability join the club and look forward to him being a part of Nuno’s squad in another historic season for Wolves.”

A boyhood fan of Milan, Cutrone joined the Rossoneri when he was just nine-years-old, progressing through the age groups before signing his first professional contract in 2015 ahead of making the step-up to the under-19 side.

Cutrone was promoted to the senior Milan side two years later, making his debut by coming off the bench in a 3-0 home win against Bologna in Serie A and scoring his first senior goal in a Europa League qualification game against Romanian side Universitatea Craiova at the start of the 2017/18 season.

In the subsequent two seasons, Cutrone has become a regular member of the Milan starting line-up, made 90 appearances in red and black while scoring 27 time and making seven assists.

The forward moves to Molineux on the back of a 2019 European U21 Championships where he made three appearances for Italy and scored in the final group game win over Belgium.
