History maker Jimenez on award double

Raul Jimenez feels “honoured” to be part of Wolves’ history after his 13 goals became the club’s record for a single season in the Premier League.

After moving to Molineux last summer, the Mexican finished the club’s top goal scorer with 17 in all competitions and was voted the Players’ Player of the Season at the End of Season Awards dinner recently. Jimenez showed his appreciation for his awards when addressing the crowd and feels excited for the future as a permanent member of the pack.

On his awards

“I want to thank all the staff, all the coaches and my team mates, because without them this would not be possible. It’s an honour to be part of the history of this amazing club. Since I arrived, I’ve really felt at home, which was very important for my adaptation.”

On his partnership with Jota

“It was very good for the entire season. We looked for that. At the midway point of the tournament it was better and I’m grateful to be playing with him and all my team mates.”

On his popular chant

“Hearing it every game, in every stadium, it’s amazing. When I was young I’d hear the fans singing this type of song to other players, so living it is amazing.”

On improving next season

“We want to improve, in the pre-season we have to work on that, the friendly matches that we have, we have to look for performances, so I think in the next season we can do it better.”

On the Europa League

“I really want to play that cup. I played Champions League already, it’s the most important tournament from clubs and I’ve never played in the Europa League so it’s a good opportunity for us.”
