Should be grinding out a point, says Bennett

Although acknowledging Wolves were far from their best at Huddersfield Town, Ryan Bennett was disappointed not to hold on for at least a point at the John Smith’s Stadium.

The defender and his team mates watched their usual routines prove fruitless in West Yorkshire on a rare off day, but on this occasion, they couldn’t grind out a point and were on the opposite end of a late goal on this occasion.

On an off day

“I thought it was flat all game to be honest. It was a sloppy game in general. We weren’t at the races and we know that, it’s something to work on. It was one of those games where, if you’re not going to win, you hold out and unfortunately we didn’t do that.

“They’re the games where you have to dig in and we’ve done that all season and nicked goals, but unfortunately tonight they’ve done what we’ve been doing to other teams so it’s difficult to take.”

On usual plan not working

“We’ve got certain routines we do all the time when we go out and play, and we tried to implement that tonight but sometimes it doesn’t happen for you. We were trying to do things we normally do and it wasn’t really working.

“Things we were trying weren’t working, our normal routines weren’t working. We found it difficult, but we were in the game. We just had to keep trying to do the right things and stay solid at the back, and for the most part we did that, but conceding last minute killed us.”

On a second Huddersfield loss

“The first game we played them they played well. We came away from it thinking they’d outplayed us. Tonight was a different story, it was sloppy from both teams, it couldn’t have been a good game to watch, it felt like that.

“There was a bit of a deflection (on the winner) and it was a bit unlucky but we’ve got to bounce back quickly.”
