The captain is relishing the ‘special’ atmosphere around the current Wolves side and has praised Nuno’s style of play, as well as how the players have been able to adapt to different situations they have faced in the Premier League this season.
But Coady also knows the team will have a tough test on their hands this evening as Newcastle United visit Molineux.
On the club’s current position
“It’s special. Everybody wanted that to happen a few years ago. I’ve been here a number of years now and they weren’t doing so good.
“You knew at some point this club could click and I think a lot of credit has to go to the manager and his staff when they came in, and obviously the owners as well.
“I think the manager’s really turned the club around over the last two years and taken it in a different direction along with his staff.
“Players were brought into the football club who were hungry to play in England and, at the time, play in the Championship and get us out of it.
“I think you can see within the last couple of years we’ve got better, we’ve improved, and the club want to go a long way.
“We want to be a part of that for as long as possible, so I think it’s important that we keep on listening to everybody here, keep on learning and hopefully we can get even better.”
On Wolves’ style of play
“We said when we got promoted last year that we wouldn’t change the way we play, and we wouldn’t change the identity of the club and we haven’t. We’ve done the same thing.
“Within that formation, that way of playing, we’ve found different ways of doing things, like putting the extra man in midfield which has really helped in certain aspects this season.
“It just goes to show the character of the boys and obviously the manager’s ideas I go back to again, in terms of listening to him on the training pitch and making sure we’re doing what he says.
“The lads are taking it on board, we’ve got some really clever footballers here who want to learn and want to improve and, luckily, we’ve done that up until now.
“We need to get better, it’s as simple as that, and there’s a long way to go.”
On the test Newcastle pose
“The manager’s big on not looking past the next game, it’s as simple as that. We all have dreams and we’re all hungry to do well in the FA Cup, but we’re looking at Newcastle on Monday and what’s going to be a really, really tough game.
“We found it hard at St James’ earlier in the year and it’s going to be a really tough game. In terms of the season, it’s going all right, but we just want to improve and get better.”
