Nuno pleased with progression, not performance

While not satisfied with his team’s performance, Nuno Espirito Santo was pleased to see Wolves get the job done by any means possible against Shrewsbury Town.

The hosts had to come from behind to see off their League One opponents to book a place in the last 16. While not a vintage display, Wolves showed their character to keep asking questions and find a winner through a piece of quality from Ivan Cavaleiro.

On getting the job done

“The result was good. I’m happy, but the performance was not good. I think it was not one of the best ones.

“It was definitely not one of the best ones. I am happy because we’ve gone through, but there was a lot of things to look at.

“It was not one of the best games we’ve had, but we managed to solve it and it’s job done, let’s go to the next one.”

On game management

“After we scored so early, I thought that we could have play better, then we allowed them to get back in the game. It made our task very harder.

“We were ahead with the first moment, the first shot on goal we scored, but after it we kept the ball with no real threat and when they scored we started playing, but it was always rushed and not the best way to play football.

“We got the job done, not in the best way, the way we want to do. The boys, after they got scared, started playing – they know there’s no easy games in football.”

On the next round at Bristol City

“It’s going to be very, very competitive. It’s going to be very, very tough, but, now we have Newcastle first, then we’re going to focus on the FA Cup. For all the games, we go game by game.

“It’s going to be very though, there’s no easy things in football and today football taught us that, there’s no easy games.”
