Romain Saïss is expecting a tough match on Wednesday evening as Wolves invite Premier League title chasers Chelsea to Molineux.
The Moroccan, who made his first league start of the season in the defeat to Cardiff City on Friday night, knows his teammates will have to be at their best to get a positive result.
“I think it will be a hard game, because this season they played well with the new coach Sarri and they have a lot of good players, but we don’t need to think about all the good players of Chelsea.
“It is a good test for us, but we have to stay together. I know maybe Chelsea get the ball for this game and we have to stay compact and think about points because we need points.
“To get points we have to play well, so it will be very hard, but I think we played well against the big teams, like we did against City, Arsenal or United, so I think it is a good example for us.
“We have to give everything on the pitch to get at least a point.”
Wolves’ form has taken a dip over the past two months, with Nuno Espirito Santo’s side picking up just one point from their previous six matches of the campaign.
“We started the season very well and we know all the teams have a hard period,” Saïss said. “But now we have to stop this period because five or six games getting only one point it is not enough.
“We know in December it is very hard as we have a lot of games, so I think the coach needs all the players in this month because we have a lot of games, hard games actually, but we have to stay together, and all the players stay in the same way to get some points because we need it.
“Hopefully we start well, but we have to stay focused mentally and think about the fight to get some points. When we get some points, we are going to start to adjust to play better, but the most important thing is to keep the clean sheet.”
The 28-year-old had mixed emotions following the Cardiff defeat, as he was pleased to make his first start of the season but was left disappointed with the final result.
“It was very good because I was waiting for a long time since the beginning of the season,” Saïss added. “I didn’t start one game, so I was waiting a very long time, so I appreciate my time on the pitch, but I would prefer it if we won the game.
“For me it was important to get some minutes, and now I hope to continue like that and get more minutes next time.”
