Award nomination reflects well on squad, says Nuno

Nuno Espirito Santo believes his Manager of the Month nomination is a reflection of his side’s hard work but has all his attention on Crystal Palace this weekend.

The head coach was nominated for the Premier League award after going September unbeaten during four matches.

Although honoured to be recognised, Nuno is fully focused on carrying that form into October, starting at Selhurst Park on Saturday.

“It’s a reflection of the effort of the players, the way they’ve been playing, the way they’ve been working,” he said.

“It’s an honour of course, but at the same time gives us more responsibilities. We want to keep on repeating the standards and improving through the season.

“We look at the next game and it’s tomorrow against a difficult Crystal Palace team. We must be ready for it.”

Wolves are the only Premier League club to name an unchanged side during the opening seven matches of the season but Nuno had his faith in his squad reiterated last weekend.

Ivan Cavaleiro and Adama Traore’s impact off the bench was significant in victory over Southampton and Nuno knows more than ever the strength in depth at his disposal.

“We are truly happy with the squad, the way all the players have been working. The strength is the squad, it allows us always to choose a strong 11.

“We look at all the aspects and details that can improve our players. 100 per cent focus on the technical and fitness aspects.

“We are putting the Wolves player in the middle and giving him all the tools to perform well.”

Wolves take on a Crystal Palace squad which is established at this level and Nuno knows the task ahead for his side at what is expected to be a lively Selhurst Park.

“I know the squad of Crystal Palace and pass on information to the players. We’re going to find a very good team of quality with a good manager. It’s a tough environment in Selhurst Park so we must be ready.

"It’s going to be tough, but we go motivated to compete to the maximum of our strengths. All the players of Crystal Palace have quality, we cannot look at individuals. We won’t make that mistake.

“We know their strengths but at the same time we know their weaknesses. We know what we’re going to find, we already look forward.”
