Nuno wants high standards to be maintained

Nuno Espirito Santo hopes to reap the benefits of a strong squad against West Ham United and further afield this season.

Wolves made nine changes from their previous Premier League outing on Tuesday night and produced a professional performance at Sheffield Wednesday.

Back to league action on Saturday at the London Stadium, Nuno expects to see the high levels of performance maintained across all competitions.

“As a group, as a team, as a squad, we established some standards – the way we want to compete in all the games,” he said.

“We have to do it tomorrow. We are motivated, we’re prepared to go to West Ham to compete and play.

“The better we are as a squad, the stronger we’ll be as a team. It was a good performance and we did it again against Sheffield Wednesday, especially in the second-half.”

On Saturday Nuno comes up against Manuel Pellegrini and is relishing the challenge of preparing a team against a manager he knows well.

“I admire him as a manager, not only for his career but because I know him personally, so I respect him.

“Tomorrow we’re going to face the team of West Ham. This is what we look for, the players and the way they do their things, the way they organise.

“When we recognise their strengths and weaknesses, we are better prepared for the game.

“We are prepared to play on the pitch, home or away we try to put our idea on the pitch. At Molineux we did it last week, let’s do it again in West Ham.”
