With promotion and the title all safely secured, Wolves have one final Championship fixture to complete, with the prize of a three-figure points total on offer on Sunday.
Wolves’ memorable season comes to a close at the Stadium of Light and a draw will see Nuno Espirito Santo’s men hit 100 points. A goalless draw with Sheffield Wednesday saw Wolves complete their Molineux campaign last week and their 46th and final fixture comes against Sunderland. A win over the Black Cats would leave Wolves having beaten every side in the Championship. On 30 occasions Nuno’s side have taken maximum point this season and win number 31 would be a perfect way to sign off from this unbelievable campaign.
Sunderland have endured another season to forget, suffering a second successive relegation. After dropping from the Premier League last season, the Black Cats have won just six matches all season long. Sunderland, who were relegated in April with three games remaining, have recently parted company with Chris Coleman, who’d been in charge since November. Sunderland have failed to win any of their previous six matches, with their last victory coming against Derby County on Good Friday by a 4-1 margin.
Around The Championship
While Wolves have secured top spot, it promises to be an exciting final day elsewhere. Cardiff will be promoted if they beat Reading, otherwise Fulham can sneak into second with a positive result at Birmingham.
Realistically, it looks to be Derby and Preston battling for the final Play-Off spot, both of whom host sides attempting to avoid the drop in Barnsley and Burton respectively.
Five sides are hoping to avoid two relegation spots, with Reading, Birmingham, Barnsley and Burton all playing promotion-chasing sides. The other club involved is Bolton, who host Nottingham Forest.
The final Championship fixture of the season will be available for Wolves TV users overseas to watch live. As always, audio commentary will able to available to subscribers, while Twitter and Matchday Centre Live will have all the updates from the Stadium of Light.
