After being crowned the Championship Champions at Bolton last week, Wolves face Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday afternoon as they play their final fixture at Molineux this season.
Although Afobe is looking forward to lifting the trophy after the game, he says that the squad’s full focus is on the game rather than the post-match celebrations.
He said, “we’ve been in every day, been doing our gym sessions, working hard. It’s been a little bit more enjoyable with tournaments and finishing sessions but overall it’s been very professional and we’ve been focused and we’ve still got a job to do until the end of the season.
"It’s been enjoyable, very enjoyable. The sessions have been great but at the same time, we’ve had to stay focused - we’ve still got a job, we’ve got to be professional and every game we play, whether we’re relegated or champions, we want to win.
“We’re thinking about the game - it’s probably one of the most professional squads I’ve seen.
“We don’t get too happy, but we don’t get to low either. The feeling lifting that trophy is going to be unbelievable - when Molineux’s rocking, there’s no better place.
“I love playing at this stadium, I love playing in front of our fans when they’re singing your name, and to be able to lift the trophy will be something that will stay with me forever.
“We’re happy, after the game we celebrate as a family and as a team.
“On Monday, the game’s gone, win, lose or draw.
“It’s not just about when we win and it’s not just about when we lose, we focus on the next one - we’ve got a task to do. That’s probably why we’re champions to be honest.”
Since arriving on loan from AFC Bournemouth in January, Afobe has scored six goals for Wolves including the second in the 4-0 win against Bolton Wanderers last week.
He says that although he’d love to make his stay at the club permanent, he is just enjoying the moment, with ‘no worries in the world’.
“I’ve got a great family around me,” said Afobe, and continued, “the fans, they’ve taken to me as they did in my first spell, the manager and the staff have been great - I’m injury free, I’ve got no complaints and no worries at all!
“As a centre forward, when you’re scoring goals, you’re team’s winning and you’re playing week in, week out, there’s nothing better than that.
“I’ve got a great feeling at the moment and I’m just going to try and do my best for the team for the next two games. Then, we’ll sit down and see what happens.
“My job was to help this team be champions, win promotion, score a few goals and start to enjoy my football again and all four boxes have been ticked.
“We’ve got two more games and I just want to focus on that and hopefully we get six points out of it.”
