Nuno Refuses To Be Distracted

Nuno Espirito Santo says Wolves must improve on their last performance as they prepare to face Derby County at Molineux in the Sky Bet Championship on Wednesday evening (7:45pm).

Wolves dramatically beat Cardiff City 1-0 on Friday evening at the Cardiff City Stadium as the hosts missed two penalties in added time.

Despite the victory, Nuno is keen to place all of his and the team’s focus on the present rather than reflecting on what has happened in the past.

“We cannot get distracted, we know that Friday has passed and it’s history now,” said Nuno.

“We want to build the present. It’s over now, today we prepare for the game against Derby, we know that it’s going to be a tough game.

“We’re back at home but Derby are a good team and we must know that.

“We must improve on our performance - we need to do a good game to win against Derby there’s no doubt about it.

“What we have to do is clear, we have to take advantage of what happened on Friday and put it together on this game.

“We must improve from this game, knowing that it was a big result and a good performance but we have to improve like we did all season long.

“The good aspects, the motivation that we had, the punch - we must control it but we need to play with joy and play with happiness.”

Wednesday’s opponents, Derby County, head into the Championship clash on the back of two straight victories. The most recent being a 3-0 win over Bolton Wanderers on Saturday.

The Wolves Head Coach says that no matter who his team play, he prepares his team with the intention of winning all three points.

“In this moment of the competition, every team has something to fight for,” Nuno continued.

“We fight to do a good game and we want to go back to Molineux and celebrate together with our pack.

“We approach every game in the same way - we take a good look at every team, we pass the information to the players and we go for the game no matter what the opponent is fighting for.

“We know what we have to do and how we want to fight. We want to fight with all our strengths for the three points.

“We still have a long way in front of us and this is what we are focussing on, always improving on what we have done.

“Nothing changes, the approach is always the same - we don’t get distracted by what people say, what people think.

“We appreciate, we take a look at it, we listen to it but we don’t get distracted.

“We are close here, preparing what we want to do - building a team.”
