Wolves Supporting Know The Score

April is Bowel Cancer Awareness month

Wolves players will be showing their support for the PFA’s Know The Score campaign in the fight against Bowel Cancer at tomorrow’s fixture at Bristol City.

The players will be warming up in Know The Score t-shirts to raise awareness and support the campaign being run by the PFA in partnership with all major Bowel Cancer charities, the League Managers’ Association and the Adam Stansfield Foundation.

The week of awareness has run from last Saturday until tomorrow, and is the seventh year of the campaign, which also sees football managers and players wearing the silver ‘Bowel Cancer Star of Hope’.

Bowel Cancer is the UK’s fourth most common cancer with 41,000 new cases every year.

Every 90 minutes three people die from the disease, and it is the second biggest cause of cancer death.

The Know The Score campaign urges people to get checked out early if they have any potential symptoms of Bowel Cancer as, with early diagnosis, more than nine in ten people survive for five years or more.

This compares to less than one in ten people when diagnosed at a later stage.

Know The Score also aims to end the perception that Bowel Cancer is an old person’s illness – it can affect men and women of any age.
