Bouncing Back

Dave Edwards is confident the attention to detail of Walter Zenga will help Wolves bounce back from their midweek disappointment when Norwich visit Molineux tomorrow (5.30pm).

Both Wolves and Norwich suffered late setbacks in midweek, Wolves at Wigan, and Norwich at Newcastle, ahead of tomorrow’s televised clash.

The Welsh international midfielder is confident Wolves will have a gameplan in place to try and return to winning ways.

"The way the manager works, he has a very specific game plan for each match, which is good, so we know exactly how to hurt the opposition,” said Edwards.

"Against Wigan it didn’t quite come off but we knew what their weaknesses were and tried to exploit them.

"At times we did that in the first half. And we looked dangerous at set pieces.

"We work on patterns of play all the time in training.

"When the ball’s in certain areas of the pitch we know what movements to do, so it’s not so much off-the-cuff if you like, it’s very well drilled. And when it does come off you can see it coming from the training ground.

"We’re only going to get better at that. We’re working very hard on the training ground, and we need to be because it’s a very different routine.

"But it’s definitely a good thing. The quicker we adapt to it the better chance we’ll have of being in that top six at the end of the season.”

Tuesday's loss at Wigan was Wolves' third defeat of the season and, afer reflecting on the game, Edwards believes the side need to be more difficult to beat.

He said: "We didn’t play particularly well but if you come away with a point it’s a point gained.

"With 10 minutes to go, me personally I was thinking the worst case scenario would be we’d get a draw.

"We hadn’t played particularly well in the second half – if you come away with a point you can go again on Saturday and you’re in a better position.

"To lose such a simple goal late on, it’s the sort of goal you see in the Championship but it’s a goal we shouldn’t concede.

"It’s all about consistency. So when you don’t play well it’s important that you’re hard to beat.

"Take away the first ten minutes and the final few minutes we were like that.

"It felt like the game was just drifting away from us in the second half. Maybe the extra bit of rest they had...it’s not an excuse but they looked more lively going into that last 20 minutes.

"But we should have controlled the game a lot better.

"I don’t think we enjoyed enough possession. We were trying to hurt them quickly because they were open – if we won the ball back we were trying to get it into the front men as quickly as possible.

"For us, for whatever reason in that second half, it didn’t seem to work."
