Winger notches first Wolves goal - and wants more
Ivan Cavaleiro is hoping his goal against Brentford will prove the first of many as he settles in to life at Wolves.
The exciting winger sealed the points at Molineux on Saturday with a breakaway and cool finish to secure a 3-1 victory as the Bees had been pushing for an equaliser.
And while Cavaleiro insists the team is more important than the individual, he is hoping for plenty of goals and assists to make his contribution.
“I am very happy to get my first goal for Wolves,” he said.
"It was a special feeling because it was my first goal and we need goals to get confidence and it was good.
“But the most important thing is that the team is together and we did a very good game on Saturday.
“When I came onto the pitch my objective was to help the team and try and get a goal.
“When I came to Wolves, I said in the first interview that I did that I like to score goals.
“I want to keep doing that and to provide assists and we all want to work together to achieve.
“It was good to get the win on Saturday.
“It was also good for Joao (Teixeira) to get his first goals.
“He played very well and it was a good day for him.
“We all have to keep going and do better for the team.”
Cavaleiro is confident there is more to come from him once he has settled in further and adapted to the physical demands of the Sky Bet Championship, but he has thanked his team-mates for a warm welcome.
“I'm lucky to be here at Wolves and I want to continue scoring and help my team mates,” he says.
"The British players are helping me so much and I say thank you because they are very good people and helping me and the other Portuguese and French players.
"They are very good at helping me to improve my game.
"I did pre-season but I didn't play too much and now I am trying to get better.
“I just want to improve myself and start playing more because the last year I was injured for seven months.”
Attention now quickly turns to the next game at Wigan tomorrow (7.45), as the fixtures continue to come thick and fast.
“Now we have to think quickly about the Wigan game,” says Cavaleiro.
“Normally the Championship is like it was on Saturday – all the teams are very good and it is close!
"We are doing a good team together and together we can achieve our objectives and get stronger and win the games.
“I think we can win games together because we have already learned from our game against Burton and Barnsley.
“We talked together with the coach and looked at thing together and that is the most important thing.
"We've got six points from two games and we want to continue scoring and winning.”
The most important thing is that the team is together and we did a very good game on Saturday
