Gaffer Pleased For Edwards And Wales

Jackett's thoughts ahead of Euro 2016 semi final

Kenny Jackett says Wales are fully deserving of their Euro 2016 semi final place – as Wolves midfielder Dave Edwards and the squad prepare to take on Portugal in Lyon tonight.

Edwards has made three appearances in the competition so far, as Wales have won four out of five games to progress to the last four and within sight of Sunday’s final.

Jackett, who was capped 31 times by Wales during his playing career, has been delighted to look on as Wales have excelled in the competition.

“It’s great to see Dave is still out there,” says the Head Coach.

“It’ll be interesting with the changes whether he gets any game time - you never know.

“But either way it’s great experience for him, and it’s very good for the club.

“It was a great game (against Belgium) on Friday, of a terrific standard.

“And Wales deserved it, particularly after coming through a tough opening period.

“Ramsey’s been fantastic, almost as good as anybody in the tournament.

“It’s terrific to see, and the involvement of the British sides has made it very interesting.

“I couldn’t envisage them getting this far.

“But you’ve got to say that in terms of performances it hasn’t been a fluke.”
