Gaffer's update on injury news

Paul Lambert is pleased with the progress of defender Mike Williamson and believes his quality and experience could be a “big plus” for Wolves.

Williamson has been sidelined for over a year – since his initial successful loan spell at Molineux – with a troublesome tendon problem, which eventually required surgery.

The 33-year-old produced some impressive displays during his loan spell at Wolves, and Lambert is well aware of his abilities having first worked with him whilst manager at Wycombe Wanderers.

“I know Mike really well from my time at Wycombe,” says the Head Coach.

“He has been training with us and has been doing ever so well.

“If he can get another week under his belt with no complications we will see how he is.

“He is a terrific, experienced player, and he knows the game inside out and will help us.

“If we can get him back fully fit be a big plus.”

Lambert also has encouraging reports on other players on the comeback trail.

Prince Oniangue came through an hour for the Under-23s in last night’s win at West Bromwich Albion, whilst Joe Mason and Lee Evans are now not far away.

“We may look to arrange a game for some of these lads and it is important to get them back,” added Lambert.

“There are still a few players I need to see play.”
