A High Intensity

A High Intensity

Kortney Hause believes that Wolves Head Coach Paul Lambert has got the team playing with a higher intensity all over the pitch.

Last week saw Lambert record his first victory as Wolves boss and, ahead of this afternoon’s visit to Molineux of Fulham (3pm), Hause admits that the new gaffer wants his side to play on the front foot.

“He (Lambert) has come in and he wants us to press high and start from the front with the midfielders backing it up and then have the defenders playing on the front foot,” says the defender.

“He really does want us to play the high press game and I think we have taken well to it.”

Wolves’ new style of play was clear to see in their last fixture against Queens Park Rangers at Loftus Road and Hause feels that after going a goal up in that game, the side felt very comfortable throughout the match.

“We pressed them high with real intensity and we ended up going a goal ahead and then from there I think we were quite comfortable,” he explained.

“They had a man sent off which always helps and he got sent off quite early on as well.

“When you are playing against ten men you are always going to create chances because you have got that extra player and if you are clinical, which we were on the day, then you are going to score.”

And Hause continued that the win against Ian Holloway’s men was a much needed one.

“I think it was needed to be honest.

“We hadn’t won in nine or ten games so it was needed and we need to continue to win, draws aren’t really good enough considering the position we are in in the table at the moment.

“We just need to back that up with another win at home. That would be great against Fulham.”

Hause knows it will be a tough ask against a Fulham side within touching distance of the play-offs and featuring a couple of former Wolves men in Kevin McDonald and Scott Malone.

But he says it is about time Wolves produced some home comforts for the Molineux faithful having lost their last four on home soil.

“Fulham are a very good side, they have a lot of good ball players, and they beat Reading 5-0 last weekend,” he said.

“The philosophy of the club is to play as well so we can’t allow them to play and do what they want to do so we have to press high and see what they can do from there.

“We haven’t really done it at home compared to what we do when we are away .

“It would be good for the fans and the atmosphere in and around the stadium so we need to do well.

“It isn’t even about the performance, it is about getting the three points and giving the fans what they want and that is a win.

“Honestly I don’t know what has been going wrong at home.

“We pretty much do the same things at home that we do away but it just hasn’t been clicking for us with our opportunities and goals scored.

“In football you need a bit of luck sometimes and you need things to drop your way and that just hasn’t been happening at home so we need to turn that around really, really soon.

“We also need to get a good start in the game, and get that first goal.”
