More To Come

Mason keen to build from opener

Joe Mason is hoping his debut Wolves goal is the first of many after opening his account inside three minutes against Bolton.

But he admits Wolves should have used the breakthrough as a springboard to go on and win the game.

Mason’s opener was followed by an excellent individual effort from James Henry as full time approached at Molineux on Tuesday night, but the visitors hit back with two late goals of their own to claim a point.

“As a striker, you want to get that goal a soon as possible,” said Mason.

“I couldn’t have asked for much better than to score after three minutes but I feel like we should have won.

“I always seem to score on most of my debuts and luckily it happened again on Tuesday.

“To get it so early was really good for me, it really kicked me in the game and gave me loads of confidence.

“I thought we did at times on Tuesday but not quite enough.

“I’d had two full days training and I’ve enjoyed it but it is going to take time to get to know everyone and know how we all play together.

“Hopefully that doesn’t take too long so we can start gelling.

“Bjorn’s done well to get in and get a shot on target for my goal – it’s just bounced perfectly to

me and I had the simple task of tapping it in.

“I thought at times on Tuesday we did well together.

“It was the first time I had played with him so I need to get to know the way he moves and where his flick-ons go but that will come with time.”

Next up for Wolves is a trip to Reading on Saturday, and Mason is hoping to pick up from where he left off on the goalscoring front, and better fortunes as a team.

“When I came here, the Head Coach said he wants to really kick on at the end of this season,” he added.

“This result sets us back a bit but we’ve got to go to Reading on Saturday and get three points.

“Once you get that first goal, you just want to get more then.

“Hopefully I’ll get another at Reading on Saturday.

“Obviously now, with the goal, my confidence is sky high and that’s exactly thestart I wanted.

“I’m really looking forward to playing again on Saturday.”
