It will be a quick turnaround for Vitor Pereira’s side following their midweek Carabao Cup exploits as Wolves head to the capital for a clash with Fulham on Saturday, and wolves.co.uk has previewed the 3pm kick-off.
1 | Roll Call
Having named two completely different starting 11s in his last two matches, Wednesday’s second half fightback against Chelsea in the Carabao Cup would have given Pereira a decision to make heading into this weekend as to whether he sticks with the 5-3-2 system and the players who produced the team’s best 45-minute display of the season, or revert to a 4-3-3 and those who have been playing in the Premier League during recent weeks. However, the head coach confirmed in his pre-match press conference that two players will definitely not be part of the team at Fulham on Saturday as Matt Doherty (knee) and Rodrigo Gomes (groin) will both be missing having been forced off against Chelsea.
Marco Silva has faced a lengthy injury list in the last few weeks, with several first-team regulars such as Joachim Andersen (thigh), Antonee Robinson (knee), Samuel Chukwueze (calf), Harry Wilson (knock), Emile Smith Rowe (thigh) and Rodrigo Muniz (thigh) all missing recent matches due to various issues, and whether they will be fit enough for the visit of Wolves to Craven Cottage this weekend is still to be seen. The Fulham boss did see Raul Jimenez back in his starting line-up for Tuesday’s Carabao Cup clash with Wycombe Wanderers, but the former Wolves striker was forced off with another injury problem on 74 minutes, so could be a doubt for Saturday’s clash.

3 | Journey to Saturday
Wolves’ search for a first Premier League win of the season continues into this weekend after defeat against Burnley at Molineux last Sunday. Despite appearing to be the side more likely to claim victory when the game went into the closing stages at 2-2, it was the visitors who snatched a last gap three point. Pereira’s side also experienced a loss to Sunderland the previous week, while their last outing saw Wolves fight valiantly in the second half against Chelsea in the Carabao Cup, but were just unable to overturn a three-goal half time deficit, as they eventually succumbed 4-3 in the last 16 stage.
Fulham go into Saturday’s match looking for their first Premier League win since September. Victories over Leeds United and Brentford last month lifted the Cottagers away from danger, but they have been dragged back into the relegation mix after losing four top flight matches on the bounce. Although Fulham have experienced losses against Aston Villa, Bournemouth, Arsenal and Newcastle United in recent weeks, they have progressed into the Carabao Cup quarter-finals following Tuesday evening’s penalty shootout success away at Wycombe.
4 | Good recent record at the Cottage
Since Wolves were promoted back into the Premier League in 2018, the Old Gold have travelled to Craven Cottage five times – and are unbeaten in four of those fixtures.
A Boxing Day point, another draw in 2023, as well as last season’s 4-1 win and a last-minute victory behind closed doors during the Covid-hit 2020/21 campaign have seen Wolves enjoy their recent visits to west London.
However, the behind closed doors game was Wolves’ first ever Premier League three points at Craven Cottage and saw Adama Traore – now part of Silva’s Cottagers – latch onto a Fabio Silva through ball before lashing home the winner from a tight angle to earn his team a first win in six.
Fulham | Areola, Tete, Anderson, Kongolo, Aina, Robinson, Reed (Maja 74), Lemina, Loftus-Cheek (Anguissa 63), Decordova-Reid, Mitrovic.
