FPL MD26 | Gomes or Hwang?

With a number of teams blanking this weekend, wolves.co.uk assesses some of the Old Gold stars Fantasy Premier League managers may be considering.

Last time out…

Joao Gomes (£4.9m) | Goals: 2 | Assists: 2 | Next three: SHU (H), NEW (A), FUL (H)

Those loyal Joao Gomes managers on FPL were handed a treat last weekend as he returned 14 points. Not your most common FPL pick, given the two goals were his first of the season, but Gomes did chip in with an assist on his previous away outing at Chelsea. He’s seen regaining possession up the pitch a lot at the moment, so will he be an incoming transfer ahead of Sheffield United at home?

Dejan Kulusevski (£6.8m) | Goals: 6 | Assists: 2 | Next three: CRY (H), AVL (H), FUL (A)

Spurs’ goal scorer Dejan Kulusevski led the way for them last weekend, picking up nine points. The Swede scored his sixth goal of the season and has also provided two assists this term. He costs under £7m and is selected by 2.4% of managers, but blanks this weekend, given Tottenham were due to face Carabao Cup finalists Chelsea. Crystal Palace, Aston Villa and Fulham await after that.

Coming up…

Hee Chan Hwang (£5.5m) | Goals: 10 | Assists: 3 | Next three: SHU (H), NEW (A), FUL (H)

Saturday’s trip to Tottenham saw Hee Chan Hwang play in the Premier League for this time in 2024, so is now the time his popularity increases again? Although he was disappointed not to score early on, Wolves’ joint-top scorer looks now set for a regular starting spot in a central role. Only two of Wolves’ next eight matches are rated above two out of five on the FPL difficulty scale.

James McAtee (£4.4m) | Goals: 3 | Assists: 3 | Next three: WOL (A), ARS (H), BOU (A)

Cameron Archer has top scored for visitors Sheffield United this season on FPL, but he’s a doubt for the weekend. Next in line is James McAtee, who is priced at £4.4m and is a regular starter. The youngster has scored three and laid on a further three this season. In the Blades’ last away outing, he scored from the penalty spot, so is expected to continue to take responsibility.
