FPL Briefing | Gameweek 13

Fantasy Premier League managers across the country will be putting their teams together ahead of Gameweek 13 as almost 100,000 users play their wildcard ahead of the upcoming slate of fixtures.

On Saturday, Wolves return to Premier League football after the international break and will travel to the south coast to take on AFC Bournemouth. Ahead of the match, we have taken a look at two players – one from each side – who could make a difference to your FPL side based on their recent performances.

With the transfer deadline being at the later time of 11.30am on Saturday, due to no matches on Friday night this week, we have also focused on a pair of the players from around the Premier League, one of which could prove a difference maker to your team, with another being one who many have considered taking a break from.

Wolves target: Rui Patricio

The fifth highest scoring goalkeeper in FPL this season, Rui Patricio could prove a safe pair of hands for teams this week as Wolves head to a Bournemouth side missing striker Josh King.

Currently standing second in Wolves’ fantasy table this season, the Wolves shot stopper has been a consistent source of points with 49 so far this year as his side remain tight at the back, despite the changes to personnel being made in front of him.

Recent history is also on the side of the Portugal number one, with Wolves only conceding just once in their two matches against the Cherries last season, with that one coming from the penalty spot at the Vitality Stadium.

Cherries target: Harry Wilson

Another goalkeeper in Aaron Ramsdale might have been worth taking a punt on if not for Bournemouth’s tough slate of fixtures coming up, with four of their next seven matches being classed as a four on the ‘Fixture Difficulty Rating’.

Instead, look up the other end of the pitch at Harry Wilson. Although namesake Callum might be Bournemouth’s top fantasy points getter this campaign, it’s Harry who is the player in form, attaining 10 points in Gameweek 12’s 2-1 win over Newcastle United after popping up with a goal.

With Josh King missing for the Cherries, this could give Wilson a chance to express himself further up the pitch and for just £6.0m could be a cheap acquisition in the midfield of FPL managers.

Falling in stock: Ederson

A surprising name in the list of the most transferred out player ahead of Gameweek 13 is Manchester City goalkeeper Ederson.

After missing City’s top of the table clash with Liverpool last time out through injury, many FPL managers have already lost faith in the stopper, with almost 250,000 users dropping him from their sides – the second most behind Norwich City striker Teemu Pukki.

Despite Pep Guardiola confirming the Brazilian is due to be fit for the visit of Chelsea this weekend, a look at City’s upcoming fixtures might not fill FPL managers with confidence, with their next game rated as low as a two on the FDR being their New Year’s Day clash with Everton.

Bargain buy: Caglar Soyuncu

Leicester City defender Caglar Soyuncu has made an impact at both ends of the pitch this season, helping the Foxes to five clean sheets while notching a goal in the 2-0 win against Crystal Palace on Gameweek 11.

An away fixture against Brighton is next on the agenda for Soyuncu and his side, before matches against Everton, Watford, Aston Villa and Norwich follow, all of which fall as a two on the ‘Fixture Difficulty Rating’.

The fourth highest scoring defender on fantasy will be aiming to make a fair few more clean sheets as the season progresses and for just £4.9m will barely make an impact in managers’ budgets.
