‘King John’ Richards confirmed for Old Gold Club Live

Legendary Wolves goalscorer John Richards is the first guest to be announced for this summer’s inaugural Old Gold Club Live.

‘King John’ will be joined by another two Wolves heroes as Mikey Burrows and co-host Chris Iwelumo take their hit podcast on the road, live at Wolverhampton Grand Theatre.

The duo and their guests will take to the stage on Friday 7th June 2019, with tickets from just £10 available now by clicking here.

During a fourteen-year playing career with Wolves, Richards won two League Cups and also played in the first UEFA Cup final in 1972, before breaking the club’s goalscoring record, scoring 194 goals in more than 480 appearances in old gold and black.

He was Wolves’ leading marksman in six out of seven seasons, scoring the winning goal in the 1974 League Cup final against Manchester City, as well as being part of the team who defeated Nottingham Forest in the 1980 final.

Later in his post-football career, Richards would also become a director at Molineux, before a three-year spell as managing director.

In one of the most popular shows of the series so far, Richards joined Mikey and Lumes earlier this season to be inducted into the Old Gold Club (click here to watch), but will now take to the stage with another two guests to enjoy a special night of laughter, lively debate and never-before-heard tales from the training ground and Molineux.

For those who haven't watched the show or heard the podcast, Old Gold Club is the weekly multi-platform show that features a different former player interviewed about their career at Molineux.

Airing at 6pm every Wednesday, there have been 29 episodes so far this season, with inductees ranging from Kenny Hibbitt and Ally Robertson, to Mick McCarthy and Karl Henry.

The podcast went straight into the Sports and Recreation charts at number five and has gone on to collect a legion of devoted fans, who now have the opportunity to attend the first ever Old Gold Club - Live.

Mikey and Lumes will bring their indomitable chemistry to the stage for one night only, with a further two Wolves legends to be unveiled very soon.

You can listen to episodes of the podcast on iTunes by clicking here or Spotify here.
