The Rainbow Six World Championship kicks-off tomorrow in Sao Paulo, Brazil starting with the group stage.
Wolves have been drawn in Group B alongside some familiar faces.
Spacestation Gaming
Hailing from North America Spacestation Gaming are familiar foes. This year the pack obliterated the astronauts in a straight 7-0 in the playoffs of the Copenhagen Major. The two teams were then drawn in the same group in the Atlanta Major but never had the chance to play each other as both qualified for playoffs on separate sides of the group.
FaZe Clan
One of the tournament favourites with the home advantage hailing from the Brazil region, FaZe are dangerous opponents who have had a strong year so far. Winning both stages in their regional league this season and a top 4 finish at both the Copenhagen and Atlanta Majors makes them one of the favourites to top the group. Add to that the home crowd advantage and FaZe Clan are a force to be reckoned with.
Dplus KIA
From South Korea, Dplus KIA have a score to settle with Wolves who were the team that sent them packing in the Atlanta Major as the pack came out on top with a 2-0 win. They have had a good season finishing 1st in both stages of their regional league but tend to struggle on the international stage. But struggle or not, this team will have extra motivation against Wolves as they hope to settle old scores.
Team Bliss
Team Bliss, from Australia, and Wolves are as familiar with each other as any team can be on the competitive scene this year. Drawn together in the same group at the Copenhagen and Atlanta Majors and now at Six Invitational it’s safe to say they are no strangers. In Copenhagen they managed to avoid playing each other as Wolves qualified for playoffs and Bliss had a less than ideal experience losing both of their games to exit early.
Atlanta was a different story as the teams clashed in their first game with Bliss coming out on top with an 8-6 win in overtime. They met again in the group, this time to decide which team progressed to the playoffs. The pack proved too much for them in a best of three taking the win 2-1 and claiming the playoff spot, sending Bliss home.
Only one team gets eliminated from the tournament in the group stage so every team will be looking to avoid that bottom spot.
