Wolves Weekly | Academy season review with Collins and Walker

In the second off-season episode of Wolves Weekly, Mikey Burrows is joined by academy coaches James Collins and Richard Walker to review the 2023/24 campaigns for the under-21s and under-18s.

With the Premier League season in the rear view mirror, as is the latest term for the Old Gold's academy players, Collins and Walker - head coaches of Wolves' under-21 and under-18 sides respectively - give their take on another successful campaign for the club's development teams.

Following his appointment last summer, Walker looks back at his first year at Compton Park, and reveals how he was able to take the group to achieve an impressive third place finish in the U18 Premier League North.

Walker chats about the consistency of his young players - as well as his team selection - which has also seen many of his side step up into not only under-21 football, but also first-team level.

With the under-21s reaching the post-season play-offs, which ultimately ended in the quarter-finals to eventual runners-up Sunderland, Collins speaks about the difficulties he faces trying to coach a team which regularly has players missing daily due to training with the first-team.

He also discusses the ups and downs of development football, players who have spent time out on loan this season, and what it's been like to work with Gary O'Neil.

Wolves Weekly is available to listen to on all podcast providers. There is also a host of official and exclusive gold and black content to be found on Wolves Radio, including Matchday Live Extra and Wolves Express.
