Following Wolves’ FA Cup tie at West Bromwich Albion in January, the club has been warned about supporter misconduct by the Football Association.
While the FA didn’t charge Wolves for the off-field events at The Hawthorns, they reiterated the club’s continued responsibility to ensure that its supporters conduct themselves in an orderly fashion whilst attending any match.
A number of Wolves away matches this season have seen incidents of misconduct, including the use of pyrotechnic devices, which has resulted in arrests.
Pyrotechnics and smoke bombs are illegal inside football stadiums and can be dangerous and have severe consequences. The safety of everyone attending a matchday is football’s collective priority, and the use of pyros and the throwing of objects on to the playing area or into a crowd is dangerous.
Positive action will be taken, including liaison with opposition clubs and the use of CCTV, to identify, ban and prosecute anyone who behaves in such a way, in line with the club’s Acceptable Behaviour Policy, that can be viewed by clicking here.
The reminder from the Football Association will now remain on record and will form part of the FA’s consideration whether to take formal disciplinary action, should any further similar incidents of this nature occur.
Should that happen, the club will be required to demonstrate that it has taken sufficient preventative measures to address its spectator misconduct.
