Wolves will join the rest of the football world by paying its respects to those who have fallen, as well as those who currently serve in the military, this Armistice Day.
Saturday’s Premier League match against Tottenham Hotspur is Wolves’ annual Remembrance fixture, and supporters are advised to be in their seats early to join the commemorations prior to kick-off.
Members of the military – Major Wayne Picken (Army), Sergeant Karl Milgate (RAF), Corporal Daniel McNamara (RAF), Corporal Catherine Beaver (RAF), Lance Corporal Mitch Pinson (Army), Lance Corporal Kieran Singh Sandhu (Navy Marine) and Lesley Jenkins, cornetist, West Midlands Police Band – will be present at the game, as the club honours those who give their lives in an attempt to bring peace to the world.
Ahead of kick-off, the servicemen and women march onto the pitch and to the back of the centre circle where they are joined by the players and officials, before a period of silence is held.
At Molineux, players from both Wolves and Tottenham will wear poppy-branded shirts in support of the Royal British Legion’s Poppy Appeal.
Match-worn shirts from each Wolves player will be signed and made available to purchase in an auction, with all proceeds going to the Royal British Legion. Signed, match-worn shirts from last weekend’s away fixture at Sheffield United are also being auctioned to raise funds for the charity.
The Premier League’s Poppy Appeal support has seen more than £4 million raised for the Legion since the partnership began in 2012, with club-branded pin badges also available to purchase online here and inside the Molineux Megastore.
