This instalment builds upon the initial goals of the partnership, to showcase the influence football has on fashion and to grow Wolves’ fanbase by attracting new fans from the United States through Black Arrow.
This project features New York based fashion creative Nkenge Brown, who has created a photography collection centred around fashion, style, and empowering women.
The influence of football on fashion has grown over recent years and the lines separating sport from art have never been so blurred. This has led to an increase in popularity of football kits and Wolves is no different.
A collection of Wolves’ retro kits, which will hold nostalgia for traditional football fans, have been reimagined into stylish statement pieces. Nkenge sees these kits as perfect “everyday clothing” that she can wear and feel comfortable both fashionably and personally.
Wolves have been able to use their history to bridge the gap between football and fashion, all while attracting a new type of fan in Nkenge, who continues the trend of challenging the notion that football kits can only be worn on the pitch and that football is a women’s game, just as much as a men’s game. This project connects to Nkenge's own goals as an influencer of empowering women to be their authentic selves in all avenues of life.
Black Arrow's link to Black culture in the United States and around the world has allowed for the Wolves fanbase to spread into a new audience that connects to the authentic and story-based content Black Arrow creates.
