End of Season Awards | Goal of the Season winner announced

Ruben Neves scooped Wolves’ 2019/20 CoinDeal Goal of the Season Award on Wednesday for his unbelievable volley against Espanyol.

The midfielder was joined by Jamila Palmer and Flavio Brito in forming the trio of winners on day two of Wolves’ End of Season Awards, taking place on social media across the week.

CoinDeal Goal of the Season | Ruben Neves vs Espanyol

For the second time in his three-year Wolves career, Neves has scooped the Goal of the Season, this time for his stunning volley in the Europa League last 32.

The Portuguese collected a cleared ball on the chest and arrowed an unstoppable volley past Espanyol goalkeeper Andres Prieto, continuing Wolves on their way to a 4-0 victory over the La Liga side.

Neves was voted as the winner by supporters on the Wolves App over the midfielder’s strike against Manchester United and Wolves’ winner at Tottenham Hotspur, courtesy of Raul Jimenez.

Energy Angels Wolves Women Player of the Season | Jamila Palmer

Next came the winner of the Energy Angels Wolves Women Player of the Season and deserved recognition for Jamila Palmer.

In her first season back at Wolves, Palmer shone throughout as Wolves Women enjoyed a run to the cusp of promotion, only to be denied as the season was curtailed.

Nonetheless, it was a piece of individual brilliance from Palmer which provided arguably the moment of the season, as her 25-yard strike against TNS flew into the top corner – one of many reasons behind Palmer winning this honour.

Wolves Women head coach, Dan McNamara, said: “As soon as she walked into Compton last season, I knew she was somebody that I wanted to work with. She’s a real character, fantastic to have in the environment, and brings the best out of people – she challenges people.

“’Jam’ has moments of brilliance. She’s shown how much quality she has. When you see her do some of the things she does, it’s hard not to be inspired.

“The future for Jam is in her own hands. I’d like to think she’s found a group of staff she enjoys playing for and a group of players who get the best out of her. She can really excel if she puts her mind to it and could be part of this journey, to the top of the women’s game if she wants to be.”

University of Wolverhampton eSports Player of the Season | Flavio

The past year was a rip-roaring success for Wolves eSports player Flavio, who is now ranked at number six on the global series ranking.

Flavio has enjoyed a great deal of success across the last 12 months, topped by winning the Playstation side of the FIFA 20 FUT Champions Cup and fending off 127 other club teams to become the Ultimate Quaran-Team champion.

The Brazilian reached the cross-console final of the FUT Champions Cup 1 and the quarter-finals of the FUT Champions Cup 2, both in Bucharest.

Meanwhile, Flavio also qualified for three more exciting competitions – the FUT Champions Cup 4 in Paris, the ePremier League and the EA Sports Summer Cup in South America.

On day three, the following award winners will be confirmed:

  • DIS Rachael Heyhoe Flint Award
  • University of Wolverhampton eSports Team of the Season
  • Tile Choice Players’ Player of the Season
